Recovery through
Nutrition

Your body’s ongoing health and wellbeing depends on the food you eat. In ancient Chinese medicine, each food has a particular nature: hot, warm, neutral, cool, and cold and each person has a unique nutritional requirement, based on body type and other factors. At Ways of the Tao expect a customized nutritional strategy based on your body’s requirements and the changes you want to make. Ways of the Tao combines scientifically proven clinical nutrition with ancient Chinese medicine and acupuncture to ensure you get the best treatment possible.

Recovery through
Chinese Herbal Medicine

The efficacy of Chinese herbs has been noted over thousands of years of practice and proven by modern clinical studies.

Chinese herbs interact with the human body by way of resonance with its energetic system. Practitioners combine numerous herbs together in a grouping that is unique to the individual. These combinations are called formulas. Formulas convey a different message to each person, depending on that person’s body makeup. The goal of the formula is to help your body remember how to work in the healthiest manner possible, giving it the strength to correct illness and discomfort.

The use of resonant treatment allows practitioners of Chinese medicine like Debby to create individualized treatments for each person. This is the key difference between ancient Eastern and modern Western medicine. By focusing on the unique energetic makeup of the individual instead of solely on the physical or emotional complaints, we can often make progress on issues that are difficult to treat with Western medicine.

At Ways of the Tao’s Lakewood and La Veta acupuncture offices, where no two clients are alike, Debby Shapiro, L.Ac., will develop custom Chinese herbal formulas according to your specific needs.

Recovery with
Acupuncture

Acupuncture has gained popularity in modern times as a powerful way to relieve the symptoms of many common ailments, including stress, pain, arthritis, and infertility. Practitioners have used acupuncture to treat billions of people in China for more than 5,000 years.

Traditional acupuncture is a comprehensive therapy that enhances the energetic healing system of the body. It helps to eliminate disease and fatigue from the body by addressing underlying energetic imbalances that cause both localized symptoms and many other seemingly unrelated problems. Rather than addressing symptoms with drugs or short-term treatments, acupuncture solves the problem at its root.

By using gentle needling techniques at acupuncture points along the meridian system, Debby rebalances the body’s energies. She facilitates the redistribution of energy in a way that strengthens the body and mind.
