Debby taught me Chinese herbs at Southwest Acupuncture College in 2015-16 and she was my clinic supervisor during my training as well. I feel fortunate to have her in my training to be an acupuncturist. She is a very special practitioner. She is very knowledgable about Western medicine from her nursing background and also she's studied extensively with Chinese classics and five elements Chinese medicine, which have added spiritual & philosophical aspects to create her own style of medicine. She not only taught us individual quality of herbs but only presented the whole pictures of the complex medicine system and where individual herbs fit into. It was a true gift of her and it's probably from her lifetime effort and devotion to the medicine. I still email her if I encounter any complicated cases in my clinic and ask her opinions. She always come up with either missing parts or new perspectives. Some students who have been taught by her have different opinions. I somehow understand why although I don't know the details. Many people underestimate how hard acupuncture schools are especially with a herbal program. Chinese medicine is a medicine. You need to memorize a vast amount of information again and again as if you carve them in your brain for 4 years 12 trimesters. Many students describe going through the herbal program was the hardest thing that they have ever done in their lives. It is no joke. Teaching the program and making students to understand and learn are no joke too. Intensive emotions and experiences can occur during the course. Debby was a brilliant but touch teacher. I love her and her presence in Chinese medicine. Don't hesitate to make an appointment with her. She is one of the most brilliant practitioners who I know of, equipped with vast knowledge, intuition and care. Good luck with your health journey!
